Conversion – A Journey (2)

David Watson wrote in ‘Fear No Evil’ of how he used to make regular preaching trips to Cardiff and Swansea from his home in London, using the only available motorway crossing (then), the Severn Bridge. Sometimes he would be very conscious of the journey, taking in the views from the amazing bridge that spans the Severn estuary as he crossed the border between England and Wales. At other times when driven by a friend he would drift off to sleep, catching very little of the journey. But his point was that whether he was conscious of it or not, there was only one way into South Wales by road and that was across the Severn suspension bridge.

David reflected on John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life. Without me, no one can go to the Father.” Although he realized that Jesus is the only road to God, he knew that some people are very conscious of every mile of that journey while others wake up to discover that they have crossed border bridegs and arrived in new lands without being able to recall much, if any, of the road they have still had to travel along.”
